Theory Instruction
Theory instruction provides foundational knowledge required for safe and effective nurse assistant practice. Instruction includes lecture, guided discussion, demonstration, and skills preparation.
Theory instruction may be delivered through approved online or in-person instructional methods, in accordance with CDPH guidelines.
Clinical Training
Clinical training provides hands-on, supervised patient care experience in approved healthcare settings.
Clinical instruction:
- Is conducted in person
- Takes place at CDPH-approved clinical facilities
- Is supervised by qualified Registered Nurse (RN) instructors
- Reinforces required nurse assistant competencies and safety standards
Shape Sequencing of Theory and Clinical
Theory and clinical instruction may be delivered using an integrated or sequential model, as permitted by CDPH, ensuring that students receive appropriate theory preparation prior to performing related clinical skills.
